Story Of The Three Monks Cup 三個和尚的故事

Sale price$244.00 USD

“The Three Monks” is a famous Chinese allegory that was later made into an award-winning animated feature. According to the story, the three monks could not accomplish the simple task of carrying water up the hill to their monastery since each one believed that the others should perform the task. Their inaction due to their infighting resulted in a severe water shortage at the monastery. Thus, when a fire broke out it could not be put out. This harsh event opened the eyes of the monks and made them realize the importance of collaborating towards a common goal. The three monks then worked together to develop a system to easily draw water to the temple.

Handmade using fine porcelain, these egg-shaped cups have a gold rim and are adorned with vividly painted comical illustrations. The rounded bottoms of the cups impart a playful nature to them since they can wobble when empty, but always return to their upright position. Sharing tea while sipping through these cups will remind friends to share both the pleasures and responsibilities in life.

Hand-crafted and painted by artist Wu Ling.
