Gaiwan 蓋碗
An essential tool for traditional Chinese tea making - the gaiwan dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Consisting of a bowl, a lid, and sometimes, a saucer, it is an elegant vessel for steeping tea in multiple infusions. For a more elevated experience, the gaiwan can also be used as a personal cup.
