Mingqian tea refers to teas harvested before the Ching Ming Festival. Based on the Chinese lunar calendar the festival is around the last week of March or first week of April. The picking period is before the festival.

During this time the temperature is cooler and it reduces the growth and therefore production is very limited. Mingqian teas are famous for its high-quality green tea with beautiful uniformly shaped leaves with delicate buds and more organic to drink.

Reportedly there are up to 60,000 tea buds in 500g finished tea.

Therefore, many say “Mingqian tea is as precious as gold”.
