Produced in 2004 by the Yunnan Tea Branch of the China National Native Produce Import & Export Corporation, this classic Xiaguan Ripe Tuo represents one of the most respected traditions in Pu-erh tea history. Xiaguan has long been celebrated as the benchmark producer of tuo-shaped Pu-erh, known for its tightly compressed form, exceptional aging stability, and unmistakable regional character.

This shou (cooked) Pu-erh was crafted using the traditional wo dui fermentation (wet-piling fermentation) method, where carefully selected Yunnan large-leaf tea is gently pile-fermented to develop depth, smoothness, and microbial complexity before being steamed and compressed into the iconic bowl-shaped tuo. Over more than two decades of natural aging, the tea has mellowed beautifully, developing a rich, harmonious profile.

In the cup, this 2004 Xiaguan Tuo reveals a deep, clear mahogany liquor with a distinctive red ginseng aroma, warm, slightly medicinal, and subtly sweet. The flavour is rounded and grounding, with notes of aged wood, dark herbs, and a soft earthy sweetness that lingers on the palate.

Beyond its flavor, well-aged Pu-erh is traditionally valued for its digestive and wellness benefits.
