Tasting Notes: This rare 1980;s Yiwu raw Pu-erh opens with the unmistakable character of a well-aged tea. The liquor presents a clear chestnut-red colour with a smooth and refined texture. Early infusions reveal layers of aged wood, gentle herbs and deep earthy sweetness. As the tea opens, a subtle ginseng-like aroma develops, blending with the mature aged character that only decades of storage can create.
The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded, carrying a lingering sweetness from the throat (hui gan 回甘) and the distinctive aged charm (lao yun 老韻) appreciated by Pu-erh collectors. Later brews continue to release layers of antique wood, herbal complexity and a mellow sweetness, leaving a calm and soothing finish.
Produced from leaves harvested from the historic Yiwu ancient tea mountains (易武古茶山), this tea was supervised by Zheng De Hao (正德號), a traditional tea merchant mark associated with selected Pu-erh productions. The leaves are strong and well-developed, showing the classic character of Yiwu material: softness, elegance and long-lasting sweetness.
This cake has undergone traditional Hong Kong storage, allowing decades of transformation. reflects the natural aging environment of certain traditionally stored old teas, contributing to the unique antique aroma and historical character valued by collectors.
