This rare 1988 Pu-erh brick originates from Feng Qing, Yunnan Province—an important historic tea region known for producing bold, enduring teas suited for long aging. What makes this tea especially distinctive is its unconventional composition: a deliberate blend of both raw (sheng) and cooked (shou) Pu-erh, created to offer complexity, balance, and harmony in a single brick.
This commemorative tea was produced in celebration of Lunar New Year 1988 and originally released as a symbolic set of four bricks, each stamped with one auspicious character: 恭 (Gong – Respect), 喜 (Xi – Joy), 發 (Fa – Prosperity), and 財 (Cai – Wealth). Each brick weighs 500 grams, reflecting both generosity and ceremonial intention.
Through nearly four decades of natural aging, the sharp edges of youth have softened into a composed and elegant profile. The early infusions open with light herbal and medicinal notes, gradually transitioning into deeper earthy tones. As the session progresses, the tea releases layers of dark chocolate and caramelized sweetness, offering warmth and richness without heaviness. The liquor remains clean and smooth throughout, with a refined finish that settles comfortably on the palate.
