Pu-erh Tea (Pu'er) is the most exquisite art of tea drinking. Pu'er tea is mainly produced in Yunnan's Xishuangbanna region where the land has wild tea trees hundreds of years old. Each county and mountain in Yunnan has its variety of unique characteristic.

Yunnan (Yúnnán Shěng) is a province of China, located in the far southwest corner. It spans approximately 394,000 sq km. The capital of the province is Kunming, formerly also known as Yunnan.

The leaves are typically quite large. The traditional method to store the tea for the post fermentation stage is to compress the tea into shapes like tea cake, tea bricks and mini tuo cha. The compressed tea allows the tea to stack properly in the cellar for its aging process.

Many of the Treasure Green’s Private Collection of Pu-erh teas are from the area of Xishuangbanna region. Our favourite 2010 Treasure Green Exclusive Shou Beeng Special Edition Tea Cake.

Pu-erh Tea is one of our family’s staple teas. I crave for the 1970's Xiaguan Pu-erh Xiao Tuo Cha after meals. It has a great subtle, full bodied taste beautifully structured on the palate, rich, and deeply concentrated. Soothing for the stomach makes everything just right.

Another favourite pu-erh tea is the 2010 Treasure Green Exclusive Shou Beeng Special Edition Tea Cake. Its unique dates aroma accompany with a smooth soothing taste. Also, the 1998 #8972 Tea Brick has aged extremely well, the colour is almost like cooked/shou pu-erh. On the palate, the earthiness is balanced nicely with tangy and just the right amount of acidity. flavours culminate in a long, savory finish.
